About VMS
Vilnius Media Seminar is an open research seminar of media culture in Vilnius. It is a series of seminars, which has a goal to create an independent and free space for research communication between Belarusian and Lithuanian researchers, fellows, students, and to support scientific co-operation between two neighbourhood countries. The presentation of actual media theories and critical thought is among main goals as well.
Description
Every seminar will have a special theme (topic) and the structure like this: screening of media piece (TV film, movie, internet site, etc.) and at least 3-5 presentation on this theme. Presentations will be prepared by participants from Belarus and Lithuania. Every presentation should be based on one different theory or “school” or on “case studies”. Thus various presentations will be exploring different points of view on one problem; and demonstrate potential of different methods in “reading” media’s texts. It is possible also on VMS-session to invite experts according to the session’s theme. After presentations it is going to be questions-answers and an open discussion.
After VMS-session participants (not only key-speakers, but also participants from the audience) are going to prepare texts, it may be draft (not final version) in style of “working papers”.
